Three heads are not better than two…

I guess the media types in this town had it right when they predicted that Dubnyck would win the back-up spot Goalie job for the Edmonton Oilers this season. It has been reported by the Oilers that Jeff Deslauriers has been placed on waivers.

So what happens now to the roster spot that opens up on this team? If I had my druthers, I would be making a call to the farm for tough Blue Liner to play in place of Jim Vandermeer, or I would see who is winning the most face-offs and is a decent penalty killer for Oak City, and put him on the next plane. I would love to the likes of Linus Omark here, but right now, unless he’s playing and Penner isn’t, this doesn’t make much sense. (much to my chagrin!) I wonder if will see Petiot back in Oilers Silks? Or maybe a Liam Reddox? Whatever they do…it’ll be interesting to see what they feel their immediate needs are.

I wonder if we will see General Manager Steve Tambellini make a move of some kind? For a D-man or penalty killing face-off man. I don’t know whom they might target for such a deal, but they do have some good assets and cap space to work with.

In the mean time, MacKintyre and whitney were not at practice today. Hopefully both are still healthy and not injured. Maybe the D-Man thing might be necessary if Whitney is banged up. But in that case a call up should be done anyways.
GO Oilers Go!
