4 POINTS OF A POSSIBLE 6...

The game Friday night looked like a winner right from the get-go. Taylor Hall scores his second NHL goal in as many games at 1:53 of the first period. A nice shot from above the face-off dot. Jordan Eberle carried the puck from our end up over the Hawks blue-line and left a drop pass that Hall put away. Nice goal! The following video is a little choppy but it's the only one I could find.

Hemsky, Eberle, & Gagner scored in the first as well. Toews & Kane scored for the Hawks, and it was a 4-2 game going into the second period. The first period of this game was very exciting. a lot different than the game before against the Blue Jackets.

2:08 into the second period and this beautiful goal by Cogliano makes it 5-2 Oil....

Nice feed from Brule!

The score ended up 7-4 for the Oilers in dominating fashion. Hopefully this will breed a little more confidence for this young team. Knowing that they can run & gun with the Stanley Cup Champs.

There have been some marked improvements on specialty teams in the last couple of games. The PK has been better, we allowed on PP goal in 5 attempts. In Columbus the other night we did not allow a PP goal, killing 8 penalties. Our Power Play however has not improved much. In Chicago we did not get a PP goal as we only had one opportunity. In Columbus on Thursday, we scored one PP goal in 6 attempts. Now that the PK seems to be improving, we need to get the PP rolling.

This road trip sees us get 4 of a possible 6 points which is better than .500 hockey. we have a tough three games ahead with the Canucks & Red Wings at Rexall next week, and then Chicago again at the United Centre.

The Black Hawk game is the start of the Novemeber road trip that always takes place as the Canadian Finals Rodeo is at Rexall Place. This will be five games and we'll see the likes of Chicago, Carolina, Detroit, New Jersey, & the New York Rangers. This will be a tough trip!

I was happy to see that all three of the rookies had multiple point games in Chicago. As I had stated in my last post, I haven't seen Turco play particularly well in the last couple of seasons in Dallas and he had a craptacular performance again on Friday. I also had mentioned that if we can improve on the PK we had a chance to win this game. That's right, I'm taking some of the credit for the win!

GO Oilers GO!
