Message From The GM...
So Steve Tambellini called a no-coach team meeting yesterday. The word is that he told the players that they should get the trade rumors and talk of drafting first over-all in July out of their heads.
Jason Gregor and Dan Barnes on Gregor's show this afternoon we're saying that if there is not some emotion shown after a speech like that...than there never will be from this team. I tend to agree with this sentiment. After some pretty poor play against the Ottawa Senators and The Anaheim Ducks, they need a good performance from everyone tonight.
If the team comes out flat and loses again to a team they have pretty much dominated in every facet this year except the win/loss column...I don't think we will see anything but failure from gere on out to the end of the season. We match up pretty well against the Stars and have an opportunity here to take it to them. I'm not sure why McIntyre isn't dressed, but that's the story...he'll sit. And, so will Colin Fraser as he has been lacking any effectiveness the last little while. Liam Reddox will center the forth line tonight.
Play-off Show Casing...
With the Leafs making deals left right and center, it's time for us to do something here. Anything at all would be better than standing pat in my opinion. we are so far out of the play-offs now that we will get a high draft pick, and with Tambellini telling players not to worry about that, these guys need to start thinking about how other teams perceive them.
Penner and Hemsky, will likely be moved in my mind, and it will be to teams looking to make a push into the big dance. These guys should think what it will mean to their personal resumes to go deep into the play-offs for their upcoming UFA status. If they can help a team make a push, that will only increase their value come contract time in a year from now. i know that's a selfish way to look at it, but with all the rumors and the possibility of a trade, it's something they should consider.
Off To The Game...
Well it's that time, to make my rightful place at the rink and pray that we see some sort of a reaction from this team. Hopefully we do as we can now afford a win without jeopardising our draft position. because for me, that's all it's about now.
GO Oilers GO!
