Nothing Needs to be Said...(but I'll say it anyway)

RANGER GAME YESTERDAY...

We go into NYC coming off three straight losses in Carolina, Detoit & New Jersey. We gave up 17 goals in those three games, and we were looking for a better defensive effort (I hope!). What we got was an 8-2 loss.

the only thing that looked good in this game was Theo Peckham wanting to chase Sean Avery down the runway towards the Ranger dressing room. Avery sucker punched Smid after not squaring up to fight Smid, and Peckham took exception to it. As he should've! Watch the replay...

This was a chicken shit move by Avery for sure! fortunately for Peckham, the Officials were able to stop him from following Avery, otherwise it could've been very bad for both players.

Quote from Peckham on the Avery Thing...

It Doesn't Even Matter....

The fight came at a point when it was 5-1 N.Y.  The reason it was 5-1, we have no defence whatsoever. Say what you will about Whitney and Peckham...everyone else should've stayed on the bench for effective they were. Now, we have given up 25 goals in 4 games! 4 Games!!!!

Rob Brown on CHED yesterday after the game said this of Tom Gilbert..."he was atrocious!" Rob went on to say how we never know which Tom Gilbert is going to show up for any given game.

Gilbert's performance coupled with poor performances from the rest of the defence killed us. Gilbert is supposed to be a #2 defenceman, and he's not even close to a being a #6 guy at the moment. I'm sure Gibby is not happy about the spot he finds himself in and he would probably say that he needs to be better, and this not designed to be dis-respectful to Tom in any way, I just can't watch the train wreck that is this defence right now. And Tom Gilbert is a huge piece of that puzzle. The rest of the guys need to give their heads a shake too, and bear down.

The forwards were no better. This team needs a re-set if we want to be competitive. This is a rebuild year so I am not upset that we lose and draft high next year...what I hate is the utter lack of "try" that I have witnessed in the last few games.

Update...

Tomorrow I will be meeting with Jack Michaels for an interview here at realoilfan! Please check back in the afternoon for that.
