FINALLY....A WIN!

It's nice to finally sit down to write a piece about a win for this team! Last Game against Phoenix we let a 3-0 lead slip away to lose 4-3 in a shoot out. But, both games have been infinitely better than the the 5 previous.

Reasons Why...

Dustin Penner has played much better in the last two games. His ability to use his size and strength to win battles down low along the boards, and power his way to the front of the net have allowed him to score some points and gain some confidence. You can see the difference an "on" Penner is.

Ales Hemsky was absolutely stellar tonight! He continued his point streak getting two more, after a two point performance against Phoenix on Friday. Check out his latest handi-work...

Ryan Whitney continues to produce assists. This guy is a set-up machine. It was reported on SportsnetWest's broadcast tonight that he is third amongst all defenceman in this regard.

Devan Dubnyk made some great saves to keep us in this one again tonight. Especially in the first when the Oilers were out-shot 19-4! This kid looks every bit the NHL starter right now. He is our goalie of the future and in this re-building year, I hope he can work out all the bugs when the win/loss column doesn't matter.

All in all a great effort tonight! I was a little worried when we gave up the two goal lead an allowed Anaheim to tie it up. But we pulled through with that beauty above from Hemmer to win the game.

Next game is Tuesday night in Phoenix as we look to get some revenge on the desert dogs.

Go Oilers Go!
