Lack of Posts....
I have to apologize to the readers of this site for my lack of posts lately. I have been working a lot and on the-road in rural Alberta where internet service is spotty at best. Not to mention the Christmas Season is upon us and things tend to be busier at home at this time of year.
Leaf Game...
As stated above, I have been busy. I was unable to catch the Leaf game on Tuesday. I only got to see the last 14 mins of the third period. I did see the Phaneuf incident on Taylor Hall. Let me be unequivocally clear on this point...I hate Dion Phaneuf! Not just because he played for our bitter rivals the Calgary Flames, but because he is a pussy. He came up behind Taylor Hall and face washed him, then essentially pushed him to the ice. Dustin Penner grabbed Phaneuf in an effort to protect Hall.
This is typical of Phaneuf. Pick on a guy that is not as big or strong as himself. I didn't see him trying that with Zack Stortini or J.F. Jaques. Because he knows that those guys would tune him but good.
Good on Hall for not letting it phase him. I didn't see the whole game, but he had eight shots on goal and at least two of those I saw, after Phaneuf tried to get under his skin.
We lost the game 4-1 after getting a great opportunity to get back in the game when Phaneuf took a penalty for the affore mentioned incident. Our power-play has been pretty ineffective all year. According to nhl.com we are ranked 19th out of 30 on the PP at 19.3% success rate. We were unable to score to make the game 3-2 in this case and the end result was a 4-1 loss.
Tonight's Game...
We play Columbus tonight at home, and I will be in attendance. I know that quietly Steve Nash has 17 goals thus far. I'm a little scared by this being that our defense is not helping our shots against stats. We have been out shot in 90% of the games we have played this year and snipers like Nash tend to bury their chances.
Hopefully after Tom Renney put the proverbial boots to the guys after the Toronto game, they come out with a better effort tonight.
GO Oilers GO!
