SCHEDULING B.S.

W.T.F??

What is with the schedule for the Oilers in the month of October?? We Play Calgary 3 times and have 2 extended breaks between weeks.

After the Florida game on the 10th, we got 3 days off. And after the Calgary game on the 16th we get 4 days off. Then at the end of the month we get back-to-back games with Columbus and Chicago on the road. This does not sit well with the players or coaches according to Tom Renney. Yesterday after practice he mentioned that he'll never complain about getting rest and time to practice, but he would've liked it a little later in the year when we may have needed it more. He did mention that the players are no happy with it and just want to play. They feel the breaks are too long at the beginning of the season.

I hate the fact that half of the battle of Alberta is over in the first month of the schedule too! This is one of the best rivalries in sports. to have it be half done right off the bat, to me, doesn't seem like a good P.R. move or a good scheduling move either. Now, I'm sure to make an 82 game schedule for all 30 teams is a nightmare, when having to consider all the other events, sports teams, concerts, shows, etc...that have to be worked around, but I will hazard a guess that the 2 big breaks, and the Calgary scheduling could've been different.

I read a blurb on the Oilers site today that the line combos got juggled again today in practice. I guess Renney is trying different looks and trying to find some chemistry with different guys. I am a little excited to see what lines are rolled out tomorrow for the Minnesota game at Rexall.

i will not be tweeting from the game as usual tomorrow night as i will be on the road in Sask and will not be there. I will update the blog on Friday with my thoughts on the game though.

GO Oilers Go!
