As I write this, I am listening to Oilers Now with Bob Stauffer. He just had General Manager Steve Tambellini on talking about the young stars tournament & the defense.
Tambellini said that there will not be another Defenseman added to the roster via acquisition or try-out invites. He wants to see Taylor Chorney, Colten Tuebert, Martin Marincin, and Jeff Petry in the upcoming tournament in Penticton this weekend and at main training camp and choose a seventh man from those showings.
Personally I think this is a smart approach to develop the young guys for two reasons...1) these kids will have to compete with one another for the spot, and 2) there is a goal now for them all to shoot for. this spot is now in their hands instead of knowing that they all will play in OKC to start the year.
Stauffer Tweets...Finally!
Bob Stauffer finally got on the twitter band wagon and sent out his first few tweets this morning from the skate at Kinsmen Arena this morning.
So for anyone wondering what his official handle is ...@Bob_Stauffer and he finally changed his avatar to an Oilers logo. Hopefully he tweets frequently as in my opinion he's the most connected guy for the Edmonton Oilers right now.
