HALL AT THE CENTER POSITION, AND OTHER RANDOM THOUGHTS

Hall at Center...

Do you think that the plan for Taylor Hall was to play Center all along? I do. there are some good reasons why they are trying this out now, and Jason Gregor at oilersnation.com tells us a few of them.

I tend to agree with Gregor's logic, but personally I think they should've tried it from the start. If Hall's going to figure out the NHL game, why not figure it out in the position that management wants you to play? He still could've been moved back to the wing if it didn't work out, but he would be that much further along if it did.

I don't know that there's a lot this kid needs to figure out anyway. It only took him a few short games in my opinion to transition into the NHL. Granted, he didn't score right off the hop like Eberle did but...it wasn't long before he started scoring, and since he started putting up the numbers, he's looked better every game.

Hall played Center in Windsor and admittedly most of his amateur career. He'll be fine. You don't win Memorial Cup M.V.P.'s two years running...if you can't figure things out.

Chorney gets the call...

Taylor Chorney was called up from the AHL today. he's expected to play in tomorrow's game against Dallas. Here's a snippet of the Oilers Web site announcement on Chorney's recall...

"General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenseman Taylor Chorney from Oklahoma City of the American Hockey League.

Chorney, 23, has collected 15 points (3-12-15) and 18 penalty minutes in 40 games this season with the Oklahoma City Barons.

The 6’0, 190-pound defenseman has appeared in 44 career NHL games with the Oilers recording three assists and 12 penalty minutes."

Not stellar numbers, but then again he's not here to light the lamp. He's here to fill the gap that Belle couldn't in managements eyes.

Watching the 40 games he played here,  I was not impressed except for nights like these...

Nice Hit!! but, he didn't hit a whole lot when he was here, let alone fight. He just wasn't ready last year and was here by necessity. Same as this year. Hopefully, we will see a more ready Defenseman! Cause lord knows we need one.

GO Oilers GO!
