GOD...IT'S GOOD TO GET A HOME WIN!!

Last night's game against the Colorado Avalanche was a much better performance from the Oilers in my opinion. it was our first home win since October 10th against the Florida Panthers. That was game two, last night was game twenty-one.

Cogliano in my mind (and Tom Renney's according to his comments after the game) was the first star. I get that Taylor Hall had a great game and got the game winning goal...but Cogliano came out flying and beat Peter Budaj twice in two shots to take an early 2-0 lead.

The rest of the game was a much better defensive effort on the part of the Oil. There weren't too many glaring errors. They need to play more consistently like this. Get off to good starts and keep the pedal down.

Offensively there were some surprises. Paajarvi looked a lot better in the third period than he has in 12 or so games. The Oilers actually got in on the fore-check and managed to create some turn-overs and scoring chances last night. there was also one thing we haven't seen at home in a long time...
some big hits! The hit the Stortini made on Kyle Quincey, really got the crowd back into this game!

Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle looked dangerous all night long and just when we thought we were going to O.T.

What a finish!!

I will give some credit to Marty Gerber as well here. if it wasn't for him, we would've been out of this one! He kept us in this game and played very well. Gerber also got an assist on the game winner from Hall. 1st start, 1st win, and an assist?? not a bad night for a goalie that hasn't played in the NHL for more than a season and broke his neck last year in Russia.

GO Oilers GO!
