COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR BETTER!

If you didn't watch the game Thursday night and you are an Oilers fan, that's the one that got away. That was the best game I have seen at Rexall Place since the cup run of 2006!

The first goal by Gilbert Brule was a beaut from the half wall on the power play that he wristed past the Flames net minder. The goal was assisted by Ryan Whitney who passed it down to Gilbert from the point.

The second period was kind of a sleeper and we got out shot 18 - 7. The flames came out strong and Khabibulin stood tall in the net.

Then the 3RD period, and this happened....

What a beautiful goal! Eberle couldn't have dreamt a better scenario for his first NHL goal. Short handed, deked the defenceman, danced Kipper out of his jock strap and put it away. It reminded me of "The Goal" by Bobby Orr, as Eberle fly's through the air to crash into the end boards afterwards. UNREAL!

Then not 2 mins later Smid makes a nice heads-up pass to Gagner, who fed Hemsky speeding down the wing, and Hemmer lets a bullet go from the top of the right face off dot to wire passed the stunned Kipper. Not 3 mins after that, Eberle wires a shot through traffic and it goes off Horcoff and in. By min 6 of the 3rd it was 4 - 0 Oilers and all over except the crying for doused Flames.

Then something happened that I have not seen in this building since I started coming to Rexall... a T-K-O!

The closest thing to this I've seen was the time Dustin Penner one punched Landon Wilson of the Dallas Stars and ragged dolled him.

All in all it was a great game! It definitely feels better to be an Oilers Fan this year that it has in several years.

The game tonight should be good. Very excited to get to the rink!!

GO Oilers GO!
